Dr. Curtis began her college education at the University of Colorado at Boulder (Boulder, CO) for undergraduate studies. She transferred to the University of Texas at Austin (Austin, TX) where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree. After graduation, she attended medical school at Texas Tech Regional Academic Health Science Center in Lubbock, TX for her preclinical studies, and then moved to El Paso, Texas for her clinical years. She obtained her medical degree and did her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency training at Akron General Medical Center in Akron, OH.
Dr. Curtis’ educational journey didn’t stop there. After several years in academic medicine, she enrolled in the University of Texas’ School of Public Health (Houston, TX) and earned a Master’s of Public Health (MPH) degree with a focus on Health Policy. Her thesis centered on the definition of “women’s health” at the intersection of culture, politics, and health care.
Several years later, she became a student at the University of Glasgow School of Law in Glasgow, Scotland and earned a Master’s in Medical Law. Her thesis discussed the intersection of consent and its role in the practice of biobanking from ethical and legal perspectives.
